Ladies, today we’re doing Closet Confessions: Wardrobe Management. At first glance, it may seem like a mundane topic but really having a happy, loving wardrobe is so crucial to feeling inspired in how you dress and how you present yourself.

Sorting out a wardrobe can be a task we put off, but it really has a positive impact on our day-to-day life. So find a little bit of time and consider, what’s your goal? Do you want to be the kind of person who lays their clothes out for the week? Organisation can help you to feel more calm and collected in other areas of your life.

One of the first things I would suggest is to add strip lighting from IKEA to your wardrobe as it enables you to see your clothes properly and to feel inspired by new, chance combinations. This way, you can really get the most out of your clothes.

Consider also taking the time to fold your jumpers correctly. I fold my jumpers with bigger, fatter jumpers at the bottom so they don’t misshapen the lighter iterations. I also used to use mothballs but they can make jumpers collect a horrible smell. To me, it’s so important that a wardrobe smells nice (not overpowering) but it needs to be a welcoming, inspiring environment. I use the Potpourri pomegranate clay pot which contains rosemary, thyme and lavender that wake you up and make you feel inspired. You don’t want BO and smelly trainers - not the most inspiring experience…

Now let’s talk hangers. This is something I am quite fanatical about. I enjoy puffy and huggable hangers but a bad hanger is the hanger you get from the dry cleaner that has a fight with everything else in your wardrobe. Remember: you’ll never have fun in your wardrobe if your items are squidged together.

When you share a space, it’s about how you can come home and put things away immediately. Think of that chair in your bedroom which ends up in a mountain-high pile of clothes. It’s about getting in the habit of coming in and putting your things away. And it also means you won’t have to iron things unnecessarily.

My knicknacks go in my Muji drawers, of which I have many. I even have a place for birthday cards because I never want to be caught out. Another tip is that I keep my workout socks separate from my sock drawer and instead keep them with my gym gear so I can get up and go (no excuses). Within my wardrobe, I like to organise by category and by colour so I start lighter and then get darker and keep all my white shirts together.

We could spend hours on this ladies, but it all boils down to building a loving wardrobe that gives back...
