Exfoliator & Cleanser Routine and Dry Shampoo

My relationship with my hair has been at times a rather traumatic affair. There has been years where I could not bear that I had frizzy hair, and would blow dry it straight every few days. There has been years of wear and tear from daily filming, and the consequences of trying to make it malleable to every style imaginable.

Until I was in my late twenties it was very long, always greasy at the top and dry at the ends. Then I had a mid neck bob, and as I have a very long giraffe like neck, this did not sit well; it's the kind of haircut that you look back on in photos, and ask why you ever went there.

But over the last three years I have been a soft waves girl. And getting the soft wave to be cool and not frumpy, textured and not frizzy, and one that last more than a day has been a trial and error journey.

I have had lengthy relationships with many hairdressers over the years who have all taught me their own technique. My daughter has the fortune of a wonderful hairdresser called John Barrett as her godfather, but as he is in New York, and since he became Lyla's godfather, I have not always had the joy of his hands on my head! As he gives all his time to Lyla...But he had a great technique which I try to emulate here.

Lets talk shampoo.

I was a Kerastase fan over the years. Loved Age Recharger which had the best smell and left my hair with a softness that did not come naturally. But I don't know if they still make it. I then moved back to Aussie 3 minute miracle, but it leaves masse of build up. Philip Kingsley moisture surge also has a place in my bathroom, I always start my routine with their elasticised before I wash my hair ( and when I have time). If it's very dry I might chuck it on the night before if I think I will wash my hair as soon as I get up, otherwise even 5 minutes worth on damp hair before a wash will really aid dry ends.

Tools I use

The BaByliss dryer is the one I most use, with a flat nozzle at the end to give the blow dry a smoother finish. I did buy the Dyson last month, and used it once, think its good, but I am moving house, and its currently in storage so will have to come back to you on that one.

I always use some long silver pins to keep the wave I create whilst I blow dry other sections of my hair, and especially if i run out of the different sized round brushes I use to blow dry.

Products for Blow drying

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer is the best pre-shampoo which intensively moisturises my hair. Recently my friend advised me to try L'Oreal shampoo and conditioner, which is a great discovery for my. Alterna Volume creme is a recent rediscovery, this great Italian brand also have a caviar treatment for overnight which I swear by. But the volume creme gives fantastic texture. I put this on my towel dried hair.Kerestase does a volumising spray which I erratically spritz around my root, and I will sometimes use the blow out Royal by Oribe (but it's staggeringly expensive). Nexxus is another must have for hair care. Ohh and I covered my hair roots with Color WOW medium brown root cover.

Products for face care and beauty

My daily beauty ritual would be incomplete without these beauties.

Biologique Recherche mask to keep my skin fresh. Hosanna H02 intensive Skin plumping serum helps to improve skin appearance.

Firming Collagen boost makes the skin really firm , I love it. The products that I used for make up are ChaCha Tint lip and cheek stain , Indian Wood by Mac, Naruta Bisse The Cure eye cream and concealer ,which is a little pricey but so good. And finally Laura Mercier product for concealing is magic.

SO ladies hope you enjoyed my NOT only hair video, there were many things I wanted to share.

The technique of hair making in the video, I do slightly differently each time, but generally it has the same result.

I just want to thank all the very patient hairdressers who have ever had the misfortune to have me as a customer, impatient, frustrated or rushing, I am never an easy client. That's why I need to blow dry at home more often, and become self sufficient and give these guys a break!!!

Have a lovely weekend! XXX
