Secret 7

Vitamin C is probably one of the most important ingredients in my skincare regime. The powerful antioxidant fights against pigmentation, free radicals and can reduce acne scarring and melasma. It is a truly heroic ingredient that I believe everyone should be including in their routines.

Jan Marini C-Esta Face Serum (£68)

WHO:
Founded in 1994 in California by Jan Marini, a medical skincare researcher. Formed associations with world-leading scientists and uses this foundation of knowledge in research for her own products.

KEY INGREDIENTS:
DMAE Complex, a topical form of lipid-soluble vitamin C. Also contains Hyaluronic acid, and vitamins B & E.

WHY I LOVE IT:
This was the first vitamin C product I used in my 30s, when i first started introducing it into my routine, and its still a favourite when my skin is a little sensitive.

Dr Sebagh Pure Vitamin C Powder Cream (£79)

WHO:
Dr Jean-Louis started his career as a facial plastic surgeon in London and Paris, and launched his range of products focusing on transformative skincare.

KEY INGREDIENTS:
Vitamin C, powerful anti-oxidant. High concentration of a stabilised form, turns into a paste after application.

WHY I LOVE IT:
I first used this after I had my daughter when my skin had darker pigmentation left from pregnancy. You can use it on it’s own on your face, as the powder turns to liquid on application, but I tend to mix it with some spf50 which is an added protection against pigmentation from the sun.

Lixir Vitamin C Paste (£32)

WHO:
Lixir launched in 2017 and is focused on cosmetic science and great ingredients, both natural and chemistry. The founder also worked on REN skincare.

KEY INGREDIENTS:
L-Ascorbic Acid 10%, jasmine and mandarin which are warming on the skin.

WHY I LOVE IT:
This is a paste formula that you apply after cleansing. Feels like a gel/balm hybrid. Leave this on for around 10 minutes and take off to reveal a lovely glow. Great pick-me-up in the morning if my skin is tired as I notice an immediate difference.

The Ordinary Vitamin C 30% Suspension in Silicone (£5.80)

WHO:
The Ordinary is part of the Deciem group founded by Brandon Truaxe. The Ordinary offers high performing products that do not contain misleading ingredients at an affordable price.

KEY INGREDIENTS:
Water –free formula, a pure form of l-ascorbic acid which remains stable due to absence of water.

WHY I LOVE IT:
Great for oily skin. Leaves a tingle on the skin. This forula is not rough, but you can feel a fine powder. No water means the vitamin C remains stable. This is very acidic – a really good option for the price.
