Due to issues with shipments from the UK following its departure from the EU, we have had to temporarily suspend orders to all EU countries
This week’s episode of Closet Confessions is all about trousers. So many of you ask me all sorts about this particular garment- the do’s and don’ts, tips and tricks- so join Lucy and I as we talk through some of my favourite pieces and discuss why others won’t work for me.
Talking body shapes and how you can re-proportion them, the cuts that look conspicuously out-dated and how to refresh them, and how we can style them up, join me as we tackle the treacherous terrain of trousers.
Generally speaking, I invest more money in trousers than I do anything else, in terms of shape, so I am guaranteed a piece that I can wear with confidence.
Cropping a trouser sometimes ensures me a better and more interesting shape with less bulk at the bottom and an ankle. Top tip? Select a sock of a similar shade to add variety of width and inject a bit of cool to the outfit.
To make sure my proportions are levelled, I always prefer to wear a wedged or platformed shoe to elongate the length of my leg in relation to my long body.
Always consider the colour of your underwear and support wear when selecting a white trouser, and those that are nude and very thin at the bottom are ideal.
Creating a feminine shape with trousers is a great art, and giving yourself a waist and exaggerated curves allows you to create the silhouette you want.
For those blessed with beautiful long legs, a skinny jean is a reliable trouser for you to style in all manner of ways, whether it be paired with a trainer to knee-high boot. If, like me, you have shorter legs, I find a cropped jean with a small kick-flair styled with some navy socks and the right blazer fit allows my legs to appear longer.
The exaggerated kick-flair jean is, to me, the perennial shape that can accommodate and flatter all body shapes.
Spotting the brands that create the same trouser shape every year in various colours is always an invitation to indulge in some investment shopping as they will become your assured go-to trouser for any occasion.
Final take away point? Never compromise in comfort. A trouser should be practical, convenient and clever with their shape, fabric and features that provide a service to your wardrobe and promises to be the perfect companion day-to-night.
