Do I need a hyaluronic acid in my routine? There are lots of components that make up a good hyaluronic acid, like the molecule size and how they slot into a layered routine and penetrate effectively. I have narrowed it down to four effective products, each with strong formulas as a priority.


First is Beauty Pie’s Triple Hyaluronic Acid & Lipopeptide serum (£17). Great balance of Hyaluronic and peptides which are the building blocks of protein and the thing which can work to reduce wrinkles. It isn’t too runny and doesn’t feel too sticky on application. With three different sized molecules this is a great intro into hyaluronic.


Then we have Hydraluron by Indeed Labs (£24) where sodium hydronic and red marine algae give a nice mineral boost. Thick texture but a lovely smoothness to it as well. Least sticky and has had two or three renditions upgrading and improving the formula - which I love.


Third in my fabulous four is Niod, Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex (£38). There are 15 forms of hyaluronic acid in this slightly more expensive formula. There is a yellowness to it which could be down to the fermented mushrooms… perhaps also the reason for the slightly more pungent smell.


Medik8 Hydr8 B5 (£55). Kickstarts the ability for your skin to produce hyaluronic acid yourself and contains B5 to help the skin maintain this moisture. Love the scientific knowledge behind the ingredients and I always feel like although more expensive, these are formulas I can trust.
