I am so excited that this Fabulous Four is about one of my favourite ingredients… Vitamin C. It was also very tricky because there are so many that I love and use so it was hard to get it down to just four.
Now, why and where in your routine do you use them? Consider using them immediately after you have cleansed, or they can go on after your exfoliating toner if you’re that kind of girl. And why? They’re excellent at evening out the skin tone and breaking down pigmentation. I use mine for a daily glow, and I’ve been using one in my routine for the past 20 years. That’s saying something.
We start off with Vitamin C 23% Serum & Ferulic Acid (£10) by Garden of Wisdom. At a great price, this product contains L-Absorbic Acid and Ferulic Acid, a plant-based phenolic antioxidant to help stabilise the product.
Next up is Vitamin C Paste (£22) by Lixir Skin. Founded by Colette Haydon who believes less is more, this product contains 10% L-Absorbic Acid activated by water, and a moisturising element called sodium-hyaluronic. A staple of mine when travelling, the formula is activated with facial massage but must be washed off with water.
The high product is C Scape High Potency Night Booster 30 ($120) by DCL Skincare. A formula heavily led by science, this product has a concentrated volume of 30% L-Absorbic Acid and does prompt a tingle which I always find satisfying.
The highest is C E Ferulic (£140) by Skinceuticals. This product doesn’t feel too sticky or oily, and I do enjoy using this alongside some microneedling. It contains 15% L-Absorbic Acid, and pairs well simply with a moisturiser on top.
So if you haven’t already got one in your routine, do consider a Vitamin C serum and expect your skin to glow...
