Vitamin C was first introduced to my skincare routine in my late twenties when my acne was on it's way out. I also had a lot of sun spots so using Vitamin C was a way to even out my skintone and give it some glow. It's an essential part of my daily routine, I've even put it into our BFF EYE serum concealer. I really can't get enough of this wondrous ingredient..

Vitamin C: Brightens any uneven skin tone
(also good for anti-ageing, collagen boosting, antioxidant, fight against free radicals)

HIGH MEDIUM LOW: VITAMIN C SERUMS

1. Garden of Wisdom Vitamin C Serum 23% + Ferulic Acid (£10)

Ascorbic Acid: Potent anti-oxidant which evens out skin tone. It can also help prevent and treat UV damage.

Ferulic Acid: Protects vitamin C against oxidation. It helps to destroy superoxide and hydroxyl radicals and this in turn protects against skin ageing. Ferulic acid is also beneficial for protecting skin against sun damage.

2. SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic (£135)

15% Ascorbic Acid with 0.5% Ferulic Acid:, doesn’t leave skin feeling dry after use. Same ingredients as Garden of Wisdom.

This formula contains vitamin C and vitamin E, both active ingredients working together to provide the most efficient results.

3. DCL C Scape High Potency Night Booster 30 (£108)

As well as Ascorbic Acid it contains:

Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate: A stable form of Vitamin C. Unlike L-Ascorbic Acid it is fat soluble.

It’s collagen boosting. Moisturises and protects the skin. Evens out skin tone. Promotes radiance. Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

4. Lixir Vitamin C Paste (£32)

L-Asorbic Acid: A potent antioxidant and skin-soothing agent that can improve the appearance of signs of ageing.

Sodium Hyaluronate: Salt form of the ingredient hyaluronic acid; considered more effective for skin than pure hyaluronic acid due to its greater compatibility with skin.

5. Julia Hunter Maximal Strength Vitamin C Plus ($78)

Chiral 95% L-ascorbic Acid: The powdered form is essential to provide maximal results. Together with vitamins C, E, B, A, amino acids, minerals and omegas this product really penetrates the skin.

To use: Mix slightly rounded fingertip size amount or a slightly rounded spoon size amount in your palm with 2-3 drops of water.

6. Dr Sebagh Pure Vitamin C Powder Cream (5x1.95g) £85

Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate: A stable, water-soluble form of vitamin C that functions as an antioxidant and is potentially effective for brightening an uneven skin tone.

Instantly brightening and radiance-boosting. Powder turns into a light cream on application, directly releasing vitamin C onto the skin.

7. Jan Marini C-Esta Serum ($110)

Ascorbyl Palmitate: Stable and non acidic form of vitamin C that is effective as an antioxidant. Ascorbyl palmitate is particularly effective at reducing environmental damage.

Also contains DMAE: Also known as dimethyl MEA, is a derivative of the B vitamin choline. It seems to offer an initial benefit that improves skin firmness and also has skin-calming effects.
