Coat season is officially here, and there’s nothing I love more than going through my closet and styling up my coats. I’ve built up my coat collection over my career, but each season brings new designs, shapes, colours and textures so it's hard to resist getting another…if I were to sew them all together I would have something that easily rivalled Joseph’s technicolour dream coat…

My favourite high-end high street retailer for coats is Cos. Their cut and quality is exquisite, and they last forever. Zara and Asos always do bright and modern coats, and their designs are often variations of classic designers styles, so I love trying them before I spend on the real thing. When buying a coat, I want it to fit and flatter. I have a long body and short legs, so I often consider tailoring a coat, or moving a button to make my legs look longer. If the coat has a bold pattern, then I add a belt or scarf to diffuse the colour or break up the pattern.

Coats are a key component in my wardrobe, and I’ve been known to wear them all day… I feel like they add a bit of luxury to any outfit, and I love wearing some of my designer favourites, like my first designer Marc Jacobs coat, or my vintage Prada coat. And for all the coats that no longer fit me, I have a very eagle-eyed daughter waiting for them…
