Everyone should be able to feel comfortable wearing jeans, despite how tricky they can be to shop for. My latest Closet Confessions instalment is all about the world of denim. It is so hard to find the perfect ‘jean’ and it is perhaps one of my most selective fashion processes.

You want a jean that still allows you to move and doesn't cut off your circulation but also one that does not loose their shape within an hour of wearing them. Matching the sock to the trouser and not the shoe, wearing the right shaped shoes, and selecting the right coat length are all crucial to ensure that the trousers' primary function is to flatter. There are tiny details that can take your outfit from feeling old fashioned to fresh and relevant. Don’t be afraid to adjust and take in a pair of jeans where needed. It may be that you find a perfect fit across the hips and behind but they don’t fit you in the nape of your back… if they fit everywhere else, buy them and get the back taken in. Finding the perfect fit isn’t as hard as you might think.

With a long body, a short distance between my thigh to my knee, but a long distance between knee and ankle, I have to be quite particular about the jeans I purchase, considering rise (low, mid, high) and exactly where they finish on my leg. Join me as I bounce between skinny, cropped, wide-leg and kick-flared jeans, dispel the trend of two-toned denim, and recall the time Oprah and I tore around Chicago trying to strip people of mom jeans...
