Makeup of The Week: Ill to Well

sometimes a good base is the best medicine

You know when you have been ill for a few days and then you decide... Today is the day when I need to be better. Today is when I need to be feeling much better so I’m doing my makeup accordingly to give me that boost.

First and very importantly, it all starts with a mood-changer in the form of a Sensori mist. Mixed with cedarwood, orange blossom and bergamot, it’s a lovely fresh scent that just puts me in the right (relaxed) headspace and it helps clear my mind for the task at hand. Changing your mood before you do your makeup is something I love to do.

I start with the AHA BHA toner using a flannel because I’m trying to cut down on my cotton consumption. The flannel actually gives a little extra exfoliation too… Next up is Jurlique Retexturising serum to get a nice, even base. Then I finish off my skincare with Codex moisturiser – a gentle, simple formula that absorbs easily. Skin prepped, I’ve decided to go for peachy, warm makeup.

When you aren’t feeling 100%, it’s a wise move to wear the makeup that helps you feel your best, much like you would wear your favourite colour or item of clothing. For me, that means Miracle Blur to stop me from feeling hot and sweaty, Face Finish to tone down my shine and a deep eye. The latter consists of Chloe Lip2Cheek as an unexpected base and liner, Queen Eye2Eye and Sacha Lip Love because I want a bit of shimmer to make my eyes appear brighter.

So ladies, consider what makeup makes you feel your best, whether it’s a rich eye, a bright lip or very little at all, and use it to give yourself back your sparkle...
