Junior Product Innovation Manager

The purpose of this new role is to support in the scoping and development of new innovations in cosmetics from pre-concept stage to launch. This position will be responsible for competitor and market research, sales data analysis, inputting into new product briefs, organisation and evaluation of prototypes, gathering of costings, ingredient research, product story development and monitoring of critical paths.

Reporting to: Senior Product Innovation Manager

Location: Chelsea, London & working from home during Covid restrictions

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

● Support the Senior Product Innovation Manager in the building of strong innovative product concepts with clear selling points based on consumer and technical insights to an agreed product launch plan

● Carry out market and competitor research in order to identify relevant trends in products, ingredients, formulas and packaging

● Carry out weekly sales data analysis and reporting on product performance

● Prepare and manage marketing sample requirements for photoshoots and PR etc…

● Prepare presentations to support the team in gate approvals and product presentations

● Manage and organise prototype submission database and library

● Collaborate with cross functional teams (marketing, NPD, operations, and external regulatory) for product launch strategies and execution

● Analyze market & sales data, identify competitive strengths and weaknesses and opportunities

● Have a keen awareness of worldwide innovations, trends, consumer feedback and competitor activity both in mass and prestige

● Complete monthly product alerts and competitive reviews and present in depth findings and trends to management with product recommendations and provide research to help facilitate product innovation

● Perform other assigned reasonable projects and functions by management


● Minimum of 1 year in a key Marketing/Product Development management role within a Consumer Packaged Goods company in the cosmetic/beauty/HBA industry

● BA/BSc Degree is required

● Good understanding of the product development process

● Passionate about skincare, beauty and fashion, creative and willing to take risks to develop unique product concepts/ideas to positively expose our brand and create greater visibility to set us apart from competitors

● Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop relationships and communicate with all levels of management.

● Strong analytical skills, proactive approach to anticipate issues and provide solutions

● Highly organized and calendar driven, with the ability to handle many competing priorities

● Speed to market and able to work in fast paced, start-up work environment

● Results oriented, excellent ability to utilize and manage the organization's resources to achieve goals

● Proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
