NPD Project/Product Manager

The purpose of this role is to manage the delivery of new cosmetic products from brief to launch. This position will be responsible for technical supplier briefing and development of new products, creation and management of critical paths, supplier management, input into costings and timely delivery of new product launches.

Reporting to: NPD Delivery Manager

Location: Chelsea, London & working from home during Covid restrictions

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

● Support the NPD Delivery Manager in the product development process from brief to production for new product launches and reformulations. End-to-end product development responsibility to include:

o Creation and management of Critical Paths of all projects in order to deliver products on time according to the NPD plan

o Product R&D (product, form, component innovation) directing third party R&D departments from brief through final approval

o BOM (Bill of Materials) Development

o Business case development including pricing, COG targets

o Primary & secondary package development (functionality and structural design)

o Product artwork briefing and approval

o Shade Matching

o Formula Approval

o Initial Sample/prototype development

o Setting of QA Standards with suppliers

● Working with make up artists to evaluate cosmetic shade prototypes across skin tones and develop shade descriptions and identify relevant pairings with other products

● Research market trends, opportunities and risks within the cosmetic/beauty category

● Responsibilities include, but not limited to requesting/pulling samples, PR sample preparation, sample mock ups, creating swatch/material boards, and creating power point presentations

● Have a keen awareness of worldwide innovations, trends, consumer feedback and competitor activity both in mass and prestige

● Complete monthly product alerts, quarterly and yearly competitive reviews and present in depth findings and trends to management with product recommendations and provide research to help facilitate product innovation

● Perform other assigned reasonable projects and functions by management


● Minimum of 3 years in a key Manufacturing/Product Development/ NPD role within a Consumer Packaged Goods company in the cosmetic/beauty/HBA industry

● Fluent in Italian beneficial

● BA/BSc Degree is required

● Strong background in the product development process, to include, “Bill of Materials” Development and evaluation

● Passionate about skincare and cosmetics

● Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop relationships and communicate with all levels of management.

● Strong analytical skills, proactive approach to anticipate issues and provide solutions

● Highly organized and calendar driven, with the ability to handle many competing priorities

● Speed to market and able to work in a fast paced, start-up work environment

● Results oriented, excellent ability to utilize and manage the organization's resources to achieve goals

● Proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
