Wedding makeup looks to inspire you

Just as a sales assistant will advise you to browse the rails in a bridal boutique to see which kind of styles you’re drawn to, scrolling through makeup images is a great way to get a feel for your wedding makeup look.

Once you have started to collate some images, notice if there are any patterns. Are the makeup looks you love all centred around a dramatic eye? Or are you leaning towards a natural wedding makeup look, with barely-there foundation and a soft nude lip colour? “Images that inspire and that you’d love to emulate are a great way to help your makeup artist gain an understanding of what you’re looking for,” advises Kate Levy, Pro Makeup Artist at Trinny London. Try to find examples of people that look like you in terms of age, face shape and skin tone, as this will give you an indication of whether their look will translate and suit you too.

You could also compare these inspirational images to photos of yourself when you loved how your makeup looked, or maybe had it done by an artist for a special occasion. Again, think about what you loved about the look, and what elements of it you could carry over into your bridal makeup.

10 gorgeous wedding makeup looks for your wedding moodboard

Neutral eyes

A combination of two cream eyeshadows creates a subtle eye look that adds light to the area. The matte finish of Justice, a soft neutral shell, makes a gorgeous base for Dawn, a shimmering neutral champagne.

Softly sculpted

All sculpted wedding makeup looks require a convincing bronzer to add structure. Golden Glow in Soala makes it easy to carve out your bone structure by mimicking and amplifying natural shadows. A metallic eye from the Eyetallics collection in Fortuna, an antique copper-rose, adds depth and sparkle to the eye, while Flush Blush cream blusher in Schmoogie gives cheeks a fresh-faced flush.

Fresh-faced

Flush Blush cream blusher and Cheekbones cream contour is the perfect pairing for amplifying and lifting the cheeks. Focus the contour beneath the cheekbone, and the blush on top of the apples for a healthy-looking finish.

Healthy glow

Fresh-faced and glowing doesn’t have to mean high-shine, and buffing Face Finish softly across the T-zone and beneath the eyes will keep excess oiliness at bay. Eye2Eye cream eyeshadow in Truth, a warm chestnut brown, pairs beautifully with Hope, a warm peach shimmer, for a fresh take on the classic smoky eye.

Fresh flush

Using one shade across the lips and cheeks is a simple yet sophisticated way to create synergy across your bridal makeup look. Lip2Cheek, a cream blush and lip hybrid, in Freddie, a soft terracotta flush, can be used as a light wash of colour or layered for a more intense finish.

Softly sunkissed

Fake tan can dehydrate the skin, impacting the finish of your makeup. Opt instead for a smattering of Golden Glow, our cream bronzer, for a sun-kissed look. Apply to the high points of the face (forehead, nose and cheekbones) to mimic the way the sun naturally hits.

Flawless base

A seamless base is the first step toward a flawless finish. Our BFF SPF 30 Cream offers a light veil of coverage to even out skin tone and add glow. The addition of SPF protection to the formulation will also come in handy if you’re getting married abroad or during the summer months.

Radiant and rested

Cream bronzer always gets our vote over powder, which can cling to dry patches and leave the skin looking unnaturally matte. Use your fingers to press our Golden Glow cream bronzer into your skin for a radiant finish.

Shimmering shadow

A shimmering silver eye shadow will look gorgeous on cool-toned complexions. Extend the colour to the inner corners of the eyes for extra drama.
